On Wednesday 25th September 2019 a “Northwoods Voice” petition of very nearly 4,000 (3,923 actually) people was presented to 10 Downing Street by a group including a representative of a potentially threatened local shop faced with demolition of their existing premises. The photo shows Linda Swift, Yvette Byles, Jon Marx (NVL), Dennis Cave (NVL) and Phyl Cave outside 10 Downing Street at the time of the presentation.
The petition, signed locally by 3,923 in the shops and businesses, is against the proposed redevelopment of a significant part of the Conservation Area in the Town centre of Northwood In summary TfL, in conjunction with Notting Hill/Genesis, propose a total redevelopment scheme to build some 250 flats (in 5,6 and 7 storey tower blocks) on part of Green Lane, Northwood Station Car Park and along Station Approach (adjacent to Northwood Station). Very limited car parking will be provided (we understand no more than 8 disabled spaces for commuters) and the 200 displaced cars currently using the car park will be left to fend for themselves, perhaps with many of them to be parked around the main and back roads of Northwood adding to traffic congestion
With thanks to everyone in Northwood who participated in the petition in any way.
